Sandy: Left trail of massive loss of life and material across eastern coast of US

Super storm Sandy has left trail of massive loss of life and material and over the last two days across the eastern coast of US. The life was completely stalled. 


Overall, nearly five million affected by the storm and nearly a million people had to leave their home. Around 18 thousand flights were cancelled due to Sandy.


The U.S. Energy Department says at least eight million homes and business establishments faced power cut due to storm.


New York's underground public transportation in their 108 year history has the greatest catastrophe for all. The tunnels are flooded and all devices are to be cleaned before traffic restoration.


New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that for them it is difficult to tell when the underground transport will resume, but he voiced hope.


Bloomberg says that in most parts of the city to restore in two to three days.

The storm caused heavy snowfall on Tuesday afternoon in the mountainous areas. It is estimated that snowfall in Western New York State and Canada will increase.


But after two days off the New York stock market will open again on Wednesday.
